Health & Safety

Elevation

The wedding venue is above Boulder in the Rocky Mountain Foothills, at an elevation of 2000 m (6600 ft). Guests might feel the effects of thinner air.  Here are a few tips:

  • Drink plenty of water. You dehydrate faster at high elevation, specifically through your breath.
  • For the first day or two, go easy on yourself, and avoid strenuous physical activity.
  • High elevation enhances the effect of alcohol—including dehydration—so drink less alcohol than you normally would, and drink extra water when doing so.
  • You will be closer to the sun, so wear adequate sunscreen and/or protective clothing while outdoors.

For more information, please refer to Travel to High Altitudes from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.

Terrain

The wedding will take place outdoors. The reception area is gently sloped with slightly bumpy topography and steep cliffs next to the yard. Avoid high heels, slick dress shoes, and floor-length dresses/gowns.

Wildfire

The wedding venue is located in the Colorado Rocky Mountain wilderness, an area prone to wildfires. To avoid fire danger, you must follow several precautions:

  • Please do not bring any decorative items that create flame or sparks. Open flames are strictly prohibited.
  • Smoking will be restricted to vaping only at a designated space.

Wildlife

We have occasionally been visited by Pooh Bear, our friendly neighborhood black bear. Black Bears are attracted by smells, but are famous for being nonviolent and silly cowards who raid the trash and make a mess. If you encounter Pooh Bear, raise your hands wide and sing your favorite Disney song.
